I just filled up the Galant. On my last tank I averaged 14.3MPG. 11.9 gallons, 171 miles. The car wasn’t idling by itself so I had to rev it to keep it going, so that probably didn’t help. Plus that was mostly in town driving, and driving like a... A kid who now owns an AWD turbo car after years of driving Hondas.

MontegoMan: Hey, there! Uhh...Montego? Yeah, gas is $5/gallon now, so-
Montego: IDGAF, here’s 1 MPG less than I usually give you.
MontegoMan: :(

I think the idling problem, played a big roll. reving up the engine to keep it going should use up a lot more gas than a normal idle. That is fixed now tho.

Superior German engineering, that’s how!

Yeah, that would do it... What was wrong with the idle ?

I’m curious too. My Civic was doing that before it wouldn’t start anymore and my mechanic was too stubborn to figure it out.

X2 what was wrong and fixed it? Idle air control motor?

That's one of the advantages of having a gazillion sensors everywhere. When the car breaks, you can instantly pinpoint it.

LOL rule #1 of owning a muscle car- NEVER LOOK AT THE PRICE OF GAS WHEN FILLING IT UP

Fair enough.

My neighbor got it running again immediately and he didn’t know enough English for me to even tell him the symptoms...or to explain how he fixed it.

I think the mechanic just hated the car.

it was just a vacuum leak, caused by accidentally pulling a line almost off and the bit that was still on was torn. Once the car warmed up it would idle super low, and rough, like 5-600 rpm, and anytime you hit the brakes it would die completely. So I had to tap the throttle and not let it idle, it was actually kinda fun, kept you on your toes.
